A Stroll around Nishiogikubo Station

Seen on a stroll from Nishi-Ogikubo Station to Zenpukuji Park:

A video rental shop with a large poster of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs painted on the shutter. I was excited to peek inside the shop, but it seems it had recently gone out of business.

A used bookstore specializing in books on travel. The store's name was Nomado, clearly a play on "nomad".

Not-so-fresh plants being sold for 100 yen per pot at the garden store next door. The flowers would have looked better if they weren't right in front of the pile of discarded plants.

A hand-drawn picture reminding you that Mother's Day is on May 12th. That whoever drew this picture had an image of "mother" as a woman with permed hair tells you a lot about this person's age.

Pretty branch-like lights covering the front windows of a cafe.

A novel idea that nonetheless looks like it has been around for a while. Put your soiled shirts (button-downs generally worn by salarymen) into the locker which is operated 24 hours a day, and it will be ready for you the next day.

A mini garden and pond.

A store selling antique car toys. Pleasing to the eye but is it sustainable as a business?

A tiny and lonely-looking bus stop.

A backyard that has been converted into a flower shop. The racks are basically blocks of concrete and slabs of wood. The simplicity of it all was rather pretty.

A garage used as a wood-carving atelier.

Seals bearing family names were sold for 100 yen each. No joke, in Japan a family seal is considered more legitimate than a signature.

A backyard this large is quite rare in central Tokyo.

A cat, very displeased at being interrupted by me.
