Up Coit Tower

Coit Tower, in the Telegraph Hill area of San Francisco. The 210-foot tower was built in 1934. The tower's benefactor was Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a woman of many eccentricities (or rather, ahead of her time). It is said that one of her hobbies being a volunteer firefighter, racing the fire company to fires.

Those who contributed to the restoration of the tower had their names engraved on the stairs leading up to the tower.

A ride up the old-fashioned elevator costs $7.00. The Bay Bridge can be seen from the top of the tower, but the Golden Gate Bridge proved more elusive. Unless you get close, it looks perpetually shrouded in mist.

A view of the financial district, with the Transamerica Pyramid in the center.

Zooming in on the prime rooftop estate in the area.

A rooftop jacuzzi?

Segway tourists, zooming their way through the city.
