I have no idea how common bird sanctuaries are in France, but in Annecy, I saw two. The first was along the river on the edge of the Old Town. One-third of the round construction housed parakeets, and assorted pigeons occupied the second third.
A white pigeon with enough ruffled feathers to make its own feather boa.
A relatively conventional-looking dove.
A boardinghouse for birds.
Oddly enough, there was also a bird sanctuary near the Imperial.
It featured a more eclectic mix of birds -- the kind you eat and the kind you see in zoos.
A peacock struts its stuff next to some poor rooster.
An ugly-ass turkey.
Hump-billed ducks.
